Elder & Sister Atwood, Elder & Sister Nelson, and Elder & Sister Cummings went to the San Rafel Swell. We are becoming good friends with the Atwoods. They are so fun to be with and we loved seeing their part of Utah. Emery County.

Busy Busy Busy - Lynda

It has been a very very busy month at Cove Fort. We have had many youth groups, school groups, family reunions etc. etc. One that stands out the most was when the Fillmore Stake had their trek for their youth conference. There were over 300 youth and leaders that walked or rode in horse drawn wagons from Kanosh to Cove Fort about 15 miles. The Missionaries dressed in pioneer clothes to greet them and welcome them. We sang a few pioneer songs in the Fort and then they set up their camp. We were invited to dinner that night. They had stew and bread sticks and salad. They gave the Missionaries the leftover stew and I think we will be eating stew for the next 6 weeks. It was delicious. That night they had a gentleman that did a presentation dressed as Orrin Porter Rockwell. He shared the life of Porter Rockwell. It was wonderful. The following morning we were invited to their Flag Raising ceremony, and then breakfast. Following breakfast they had 10 stations for the youth set up. They rotated learning a variety of things. One or two stations were devoted to Service projects. One was on team work, another on music appreciation with a make shift band they could participate in. I had several favorites I was able to listen in on. One was on Putting on the Whole Armour of God. The presenter had a full set of Chain Mail armour that one of the teachers at the High School had made. It contained 20,000 links that had to be put together one link at a time. They had someone put it on and they talked about what that meant. They told them that if they said one prayer and read your scriptures for each link each day, they would have the whole armour of God on in 105 years. It made you stop and think about that and know that it is something you need everyday. Another one talked about distractions. They had mouse traps set up in a random pattern all over the lawn. Then one boy and one girl, who were blindfolded, had to listen to their Pa or Ma to get directions through the maze. The other youth sat around the outside of the circle and caused distractions by talking. It was very effective on how distractions keep us from listening to our Parents, Heavenly Father or the Holy Ghost. Another favorite was called Wheel of Deception. It was like Wheel of Fortune but was on Drugs, Alochol, Ponography, Modesty, Sexual Purity. It was put on by the Full Time Addiction Recovery Missionaries. They had video clips, role playing, and other ways to get the message out. It was amazing. The Cove Fort Missionaries were one station with the Cove Fort Movie then a short tour of the Fort. What a fun day. They fed us again for Lunch and Dinner (Tri- tip roast with all the trimmings. Then, the Missionaries went home tired and with sore feet and the youth danced the night away until around 11:00p.m. They were picked up by their parents or leaders and left the Fort. It was a great two days watching and mingling with the youth. They were amazing and very well behaved. We loved having them here! I miss working with the youth in Ammon.
